Getting It Right

It is the Christmas season once again. Hard to believe it is already upon us. As believers we will hear the Christmas story many times this year, and see a great many manger scenes.

You know there are a lot of things in the manger scenes that probably are not real accurate. For example, Christ was probably not born in a barn. It was most likely a cave. The manger he was placed in was probably not made of wood but stone. Most of us also know that the wise men didn’t show up the night he was born. It could have been two years later. And the only reason we put three wise men at the birth is because the Bible mentions three gifts. There could have been more.

As you can see there are many things we probably get wrong about the birth of Christ, but there is one thing we can not get wrong about it. That this baby was “The Messiah”, the Savior of the world. He wasn’t a good man, a great prophet, or a miracle worker. He was the Son of God, who takes away the sins of the world. Let’s make sure we get that part of the story right.

One more thought for you. The Shepherds sought , the angels praised, the wise men bowed. What is your reaction to the Messiah?
